Gen 1 Summary
Evan Jade-Lockhart, a university senior, attends a pool party at the Villareal mansion.
Alexander Goth arrives unexpectedly — Max Villareal’s childhood best friend, missing for over two years.
Evan notices Alex immediately while climbing out of the pool and freezes, nearly losing his footing. Alex clocks Ev’s reaction at once and teasingly calls him “pretty boy.”
Alex’s interest in Ev is immediate; he changes, joins him in the pool, and openly teases him. Also sneakily says it’s “good to know” that Ev is single and gay.
Later, Alex speaks privately with Max about Bella Goth’s abuse and implies she is responsible for Mortimer Goth’s death.
The group has a sleepover; Alex leaves in the middle of the night, revealing he is a vampire.
The next morning, Ev walks in on Alex in the shower — clearly mid-moment, and strongly implied to be thinking about Evan. Ev freezes instead of leaving, watching despite himself.
Alex moves faster than any human should, pinning Ev against the door, and murmurs, “Next time, ask to join,” before leaving.
The group throws a small party to celebrate their new university house, giving Ev another excuse to see Alex. Alex relishes in how easy it is to fluster Ev.
Everyone takes shots except Alex. Riding his confidence, Ev sits in Alex’s lap and admits he wants to bite his lip ring.
About a week later, Alex is attacked by a vengeful witch and stabbed with a poison-tipped dagger for accidentally draining her magic.
Disoriented from blood loss and poison, Alex makes it to Ev’s front door before collapsing. Ev tends to Alex and cleans him up, asking very few questions.
The group reunites at the Villareal mansion, where Alex plays piano — a skill learned from his father. Alex pulls Ev onto the bench with him.
Alex later tells the group that he left home two weeks after his father’s death, saying only that the Goth house no longer felt like home.
After hearing Ev has “golden pipes,” Hana organizes a karaoke night. Ev sings A Whole New World — the same song Alex had played earlier. Realizing the meaning, Alex steps away and watches until the song ends.
When it does, Alex pulls Ev close and kisses him hard, FINALLY.
The group throws Max a surprise birthday party. A game about personal detials makes Ev uncomfortable, and he slips away.
Ev admits he’s a virgin and worries it will be a problem. Alex assures him that they can go as fast as he wants. “Little marshmallow” becomes Ev’s nickname.
On New Year’s Eve, Alex and Ev grow more physical while dancing. Alex accidentally bites Ev’s neck during a heated kiss and panics, isolating outside.
Ev is hit on by a classmate, Miguel, who dismisses Alex and pushes his number on him. Ev later gives the number to Alex openly.
Alex confronts Miguel; he makes crude remarks about Ev and insults toward his family. Alex threatens him, flashing his fangs. Alex’s magic shows its head in the heat of his anger.
Alex and Ev leave together and return to the Villareal mansion, where their intimacy escalates for the first time with exploratory undressing and bed make-outs.
During a makeout, Alex briefly shifts into his dark form. Ev sees his eyes, and Alex immediately pulls away and admits the truth — he’s a vampire.
Ev is shocked but curious, asking questions while Alex visibly shrinks, terrified of losing him. He gives Ev the chance for questions.
Ev reassures Alex that nothing has changed and refuses to see him as a monster.
Alex admits his real fear is losing control around Ev. Ev offers trust instead of fear and asks him to taste anyway.
Ev discovers he enjoys the bite. Alex explains that desire makes blood more satiating and pleasurable, and tells Ev he’s his favorite person.
The next morning, Alex decides to tell the group the full truth about his past.
Alex reveals events leading up to her forcibly turning him into a vampire, leaving him with the words, “I gave you a gift, baby boy.”
Alex left the Goth house the next day and was taken in by Vladislaus Straud, who becomes his mentor and father figure. Alex trains with Vlad, and eventually travels.
Ev travels with Alex to visit Vlad, both to meet him and to understand Alex’s emerging magic.
After hearing about New Year’s Eve, Vlad calls on Morgyn Ember, revealing this isn’t the first time concerns about the Goth bloodline have surfaced.
Morgyn explains that Alex’s father belonged to an ancient, pure magical bloodline capable of eclipsing even sages. The trait can skip generations and was awakened in Alex by his vampiric turning.
Morgyn helps Alex experience his magic as it was meant to be felt, reframing it as beautiful rather than dangerous. Alex feels closer to his father through it than he has since Mortimer’s death.
Ev witnesses Alex’s magic and shares a quiet, intimate moment with him as Alex takes his hand and it travels along Ev’s arm.
That night, Alex and Ev become intimate for the first time. The next morning, Vlad finds Alex playing piano again and asks when he plans to tell Ev that he loves him.
Alex later takes Ev somewhere private. They talk openly about their relationship, and Alex tells Ev he loves him. Ev returns the sentiment, and they relish each others’ presence for a while.
While Alex and Ev are out, Morgyn and Vlad deal with the witch who attacked Alex — Vlad drains her, and Morgyn strips her magic and portals her home.
Alex and Ev return home to a surprise visit from Ev’s parents. Alex quietly witnesses Ev’s close, loving family dynamic.
That night, Vlad encounters his former partner, Morgana, who attempts to manipulate him by claiming she still loves him. Vlad refuses, noting how changed and unstable she seems.
About a month later, on Ev’s birthday, he teleports into the Realm in his sleep.
Alex panics when Ev vanishes and reacts aggressively when Morgyn returns him, fearing Ev was harmed or forced into something dangerous by Morgyn.
Ev calms Alex, and Morgyn realizes that when Alex’s magic traveled along Ev’s arm, it chose to stay — making Ev a home for it as well.
With Morgyn’s explanation, Alex comes to realize that his father’s magic didn’t just choose him — it chose Ev too. Alex plans a quiet birthday scavenger hunt for Ev, ending with a movie night, s’mores, and gentle affection.
Bella receives another visitor and is shown photos of Alex with Evan, along with detailed information about Alex’s movements.
It’s revealed that Morgana has been acting as Bella’s pawn. Morgyn catches her spying near the Goth house and brings her to Vlad for questioning.
Morgana explains that Mortimer discovered her plans for turning Alex in hopes of waking his magic, her use of hunters to keeps vamps superior, etc. When Mortimer became an obstacle, Bella removed him.
Bella shows up at Ev’s house, staging a false damsel-in-distress scenario to force Alex’s compliance.
The confrontation turns violent. However, they manage to overwhelm Bella and drive her off.
In the aftermath, Ev mentions the group planning a vacation to Sulani. Alex spirals, convinced staying will only endanger Ev, and chooses to leave despite the cost to both of them.
In Sulani, Ev breaks down but is comforted by friends Sam and Hana. At the same time, Alex is haunted by a nightmare of Evan accusing him of abandonment — a manifestation of his fear and guilt.
Ev befriends a local cat and talks to it about Alex and how deeply he misses him.
Sam introduces Ev to his cousin, a tattoo artist, and chooses a phoenix design for him.
Elsewhere, Vlad finds an injured man and calls Morgyn for help. Morgyn suddenly brings Ev to assist.
Evan panics at first — Forgotten Hollow feels like Alex’s world, and he doesn’t want to be without him — but steadies himself and successfully heals the man, learning to trust his intuition as a mage.
The man thanks them, introducing himself as Iriel. Iriel heals rapidly at Vlad’s mansion, telling him the truth: he’s Sixami — part of a rare, secretive species nearly hunted to extinction.
Soon after, Bella confronts Vlad with an ultimatum: give her Alex, or Ev gets hurt, putting Vlad in the middle and claiming the pain would be his fault.
Vlad and Morgyn go to Alex together and tell him about Bella’s ultimatum. Alex decides to face Bella on his own terms for once.
Alex returns to Sulani quietly. Ev wakes in his arms and breaks down as Alex apologizes repeatedly for leaving. Ev reassures him there’s nothing to forgive.
They spend the day inseparable. Ev shows Alex his tattoo, and they reconnect physically and emotionally.
Word spreads quickly that Alex is back. Most respond with warmth — except Ophelia. She verbally attacks him.
Ev intervenes and reframes the situation, making it clear Alex left to protect him.
Ev names the deeper issue: Ophelia resents no longer being the center of his world after years of putting her first.
When Ophelia frames it as a choice between her and Alex, Ev chooses Alex without hesitation, ending the conversation.
Back in Forgotten Hollow, Morgyn arrives at Vlad’s door in tears after their former partner reaches out to apologize, reopening unresolved pain.
Vlad supports Morgyn without condition. The moment softens, hinting at the feelings still between them.
Morgyn is later visited by Elle Faba, who asks why they aren’t with Vlad yet. Morgyn admits Vlad deserves someone more stable than themselves. Elle urges them to stop self-sabotaging and accept the love they’re avoiding.
Iri is confronted by a disembodied voice that taunts him for meddling, claiming the werewolf attack was meant to scare him away.
Following his intuition, Iriel asks Vlad about Morgana. Morgana was once Morgyn’s apprentice — brilliant, power-obsessed, and fixated on Morgyn’s untamed magic.
When Morgana pushed for forbidden knowledge, Morgyn refused, understanding the cost and danger she ignored.
Unable to surpass Morgyn’s power or gain full access to it, Morgana disappeared six years ago.
Morgyn explains the Law of Equivalent Exchange: power always demands a cost. Black magic drains and destroys its casters, which is why Morgyn refuses to teach it.
Caleb Vatore, an old mentee of Vlad’s, pays a visit to the mansion, flirting and piquing Iri’s interest quickly.
Morgyn summons Morgana, she confesses to everything, including her desire to hurt Morgyn for what she sees as betrayal.
Morgyn gives Morgana exactly what she wanted — a portion of Morgyn’s magic.
When Morgana tries to wield the power, she overcharges immediately. Unable to contain it, the magic destroys her.
As Morgana dies, Vlad takes Morgyn’s hand. The moment breaks through Morgyn’s defenses, leading to their confession and Vlad’s claiming kiss.
At Vlad’s mansion, Caleb grows curious about Iriel, who shares his past and asks if Caleb believes in soulmates.
Iri explains Sixami refer to them as soul bonds, revealing he can see them. He once thought his bond might be Vlad, until he saw Vlad’s unmistakable bond with Morgyn.
While passing time together, Iriel dances with Caleb and finally sees their soul bond, meaning Caleb is the reason he was drawn to Forgotten Hollow, not Vlad.
Back in Sulani, Max surprises the group with a visit. After hearing how Ophelia treated Alex, he decides to end it with her.
For the final days of summer, Vlad, Morgyn, Caleb, and Iriel join everyone in Sulani. Ophelia attempts to make amends with Ev, he resists.
On the last day, Ev and Iriel run into Miguel. He belittles Ev, reduces him to a novelty for Alex, and mocks Alex’s family.
Alex shows up and puts Miguel in his place. Ev quietly uses his magic to shove Miguel off the dock and into the water.
That night, Alex finds Ev upset and shaken by Miguel’s words. Ev admits they made him feel objectified and pressured, so Alex stays with him until he calms.
Later, Alex and Caleb confront Miguel alone and feed from him, leaving him on the beach as a final farewell to Sulani.
Caleb invites Alex and Ev for a sleepover, introducing his dogs, Esme and Nessie (yes, Twilight), and his retro-styled home.
Alex opens up about Mortimer for the first time in years — telling Ev about his love of reading, black licorice, storms, leaving him lighter.
Morgyn and Vlad meet with Elle to discuss the possibility of a cure for vampirism to strip Bella of the power she values most.
In a rainy walk, Vlad asks Morgyn to marry him. They, of course, accept.
Returning to the mansion, they are confronted by Bella, who has heard rumors about a cure for vampirism and demands answers. Tired of this, Morgyn portals Alex to them.
Bella’s allies emerge, including Gemma, the witch who stabbed Alex. When Bella learns Gemma tried to kill him, she kills her herself.
Lily, a werewolf and Caleb’s cousin, sides with Bella. Caleb confronts her while Morgyn pulls Iri away. As the wolf that attacked Iri, Lily argues that intermixing with other species is a threat.
Morgyn gives Gemma’s brother one chance to leave with his sister’s body. Forced to choose between Morgyn and Bella, he leaves.
Bella orders Stefan, a young vampire, to detain Ev and hurt him if Alex resists. Ev uses his magic to break free, and Vlad drains Stefan.
Alex confronts Bella directly. She admits she killed Mortimer to protect her plans for Alex — removing the one person who stood in her way.
Caleb and Lily’s fight escalates. Lily fatally wounds Caleb. Iri uses mind manipulation against Lily, turning her own mind against her.
Caleb kills Lily by ripping out her heart, then collapses. Iri holds Caleb as he dies.
Morgyn realizes there may be a way to save him and orders Iriel inside.
With no time to spare, Vlad coaxes Iri inside and Morgyn instructs Alex to restrain Bella, while directing Ev to channel magic into Caleb’s body.
His hands tremble, overwhelmed and not sure how to do it. He places his trust in Morgyn, letting the force flow through him and redirecting it to heal Caleb.
Caleb experiences an out-of-body moment and encounters Mortimer Goth. Mort candidly chats about his pride in Alex.
He explains that Caleb did technically die — Lily’s damage overwhelmed his vampiric healing — but that it isn’t his time.
Caleb is told he will enter a vampiric coma for several days, allowing his body to recover, and is urged to return to his body.
After Bella is drained, Mortimer appears to Alex for the first time since his death, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Mortimer turns Alex around, embraces him, and speaks to him — offering comfort and pride before letting him go.
Back inside, Vlad stays with Iri, comforting him and helping him steady himself. Morgyn collapses into the mansion from exhaustion and is carried to bed by Vlad.
Ev tells Iri that Caleb will be okay, then joins Alex, grounding him with quiet care that allows Alex to finally release some of the pain he’s been carrying.
While Caleb remains in a coma, Iri stays by his side, wearing his ring and quietly soothing him with gentle magic when he becomes restless.
In the days that follow, the group shares responsibility for Caleb’s recovery, returning to routine while keeping close watch.
On the final day, Caleb stirs and reaches for Iriel. They reunite as Caleb wakes, and he notices a crescent moon tattoo on Iriel’s arm.
Downstairs, Vlad retrieves a ring he’s kept for Morgyn and proposes again — this time privately and gently, replacing the earlier chaos with a happier memory.
Later, Morgyn tells Vlad they want children. Vlad agrees immediately, and they decide to pursue it soon.
Caleb and Iri return home. Iri notices Caleb now bears a matching sun tattoo, confirming their soulmate bond.
Morgyn and Vlad welcome a daughter, Anastasia Carmella Ember, and introduce her to the group. Ev, instantly smitten, asks Alex about starting a family. Alex gently stops him, saying he wants to propose first.
Alex’s birthday arrives. Ev wakes him with affection. At his Halloween-themed party, Alex proposes to Ev.
That night, Ev gives Alex a deeply personal gift – SPICY personal portraits to hang, and the day ends in intimacy and joy.
Soon after, Morgyn and Vlad are married. Alex and Caleb stand as groomsmen, with Ev and Elle as bridesmaid/man. Alex plays piano for their first dance.
The story jumps forward five years.
Morgyn approaches Alex about forming an occult council to prevent abuses like Bella’s and protect supernatural communities.
Alex agrees and begins appointing representatives; Vlad — vampires, Morgyn — witches, Xantara — Sixami (introduced by Iri), Asa — mermaids, Taron — werewolves.
The council holds its first meeting and is formally established, setting the foundation for the future.
During this period, Mariela Faba discovers a child named Rowan sleeping in the Magic Realm library after losing their parents. Rowan is taken in by Mariela and Elle, quickly bonding with their son Julian. They ultimately adopt them.
